CANBERRA, Friday 21 May, 2021 – Lockheed Martin Australia has appointed Mr. Mike Scott as Program Director and Ms. Julia Dickinson as Chief Engineer, Military Satellite Communications, to support the company’s growing space portfolio.
The appointments demonstrate Lockheed Martin Australia’s continued investment in the nation’s space capability and commitment to growing a long-term and sustainable space presence in Australia.
As Program Director, Mike Scott will provide complex project management to the Australian space program. He brings a wealth of experience spanning senior positions across the defence, rail and mining sectors, combined with 15 years in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).
Mike’s previous roles encompassed a range of complex projects, including the in-country modification of the RAAF’s Wedgetail aircraft, the Australian Defence Force’s High Frequency Communications System, and command and control systems for both the RAAF and the Australian Army.

As Chief Engineer, Military Satellite Communications, Julia Dickinson will be responsible for the overall Australian engineering performance for Lockheed Martin’s JP9102 program solution. She joins Lockheed Martin Australia from NBN Co where she was the lead technical authority for the space segment of the national broadband provider’s satellite program. Previously, Julia was satellite operations director at Worldspace, where she was responsible for all operations of the AsiaStar satellite and, prior to that, with OPTUS Satellite for twelve years in satellite procurement and operations.
